KENNEWICK, Wash. – A 15-year-old male from West Richland has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old at a Kennewick apartment complex earlier this month.
The Fatal Shooting

The incident that sparked the investigation occurred around 7:22 p.m. on Tuesday, December 3. Kennewick Police responded to a shooting at an apartment complex on West 10th Avenue.
Officers found 16-year-old Alexander Carcamo suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts by medics at the scene, Carcamo was pronounced dead.
A Six-Day Manhunt
A joint investigation involving the Kennewick Police Department and the FBI led to the identification of the 15-year-old suspect. An arrest warrant was issued, leading police to a home on West Pine Street in Union Gap on the evening of Monday, December 9.
There, authorities took the teen into custody without incident. A second search was executed at a location on Summitview Road in Cowiche. Police confirmed firearms were seized from both locations as evidence.
A Second, Unrelated Arrest
During the arrest operation in Union Gap, police also took 20-year-old Andres Medina-Garcia into custody. Authorities say his arrest is unrelated to the homicide. He was wanted on separate warrants for burglaries at Kennewick businesses, including Hubby’s Pizza and Summer’s Hub. He was booked into the Yakima County Jail.
Charges and Investigation
The 15-year-old murder suspect was transported to Kennewick and booked into the Benton-Franklin Juvenile Justice Center on a charge of first-degree murder.
The investigation, which included canvassing the neighborhood, collecting evidence, and conducting interviews, remains active. The motive for the shooting is still under investigation.
