Twinsburg, OH — A 15-year-old boy has been charged with murder following the tragic death of 14-year-old London Brown, a freshman at Twinsburg High School, who was shot over the weekend in a wooded area near the school.

The incident began early Saturday morning when London’s family reported she had left home with a firearm. Police immediately launched a search, and at 12:36 p.m., a caller reported hearing gunshots near White Oaks Drive. Investigators later discovered London’s body in the woods northwest of Twinsburg High School. Despite attempts to save her, she was pronounced dead at the scene from a gunshot wound.

During the investigation, police observed the 15-year-old boy leaving the wooded area near the Twinsburg Community Center. After questioning, authorities determined he was responsible for London’s death. The boy, a resident of Twinsburg Township, has been charged with murder and tampering with evidence. He is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing on December 3.

The Twinsburg Police Department issued a statement extending condolences to London’s family and urging the community to respect their privacy as they cope with this heartbreaking loss. “We ask for privacy for the family while they deal with this tragedy,” the statement read.

In response to the incident, the Twinsburg City School District is offering counseling services for students and staff. In honor of London, the district has encouraged students to wear black, her favorite color, to school on Tuesday.
