Dublin, OH — A tragic crash on Hyland Croy Road claimed the life of 17-year-old Claudia Phan and left four others injured on Sunday evening, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 7:24 p.m. near Johnston Drive when Phan, driving a northbound 2016 Kia Forte, traveled left of center and collided with a southbound 2017 Ford Explorer. The SUV, driven by 37-year-old Jason Lyle of Lewis Center, veered off the right side of the roadway along with the Kia following the impact.
Phan suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Union County Coroner’s Office. Lyle was taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital with serious injuries, while his wife, 34-year-old Ashley Lyle, who was in the front passenger seat, was transported to the same hospital with minor injuries. Two juvenile passengers in the Ford Explorer were also taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital with minor injuries.
The crash prompted a multi-agency response from local fire departments, towing services, and the Union County Coroner’s Office. The Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is leading the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deadly crash.
