The Midland Police Department has confirmed that 18-year-old Adolfo “Isai” Gonzalez has died from injuries sustained in a late September shooting, turning what began as a violent altercation into a homicide investigation.

Authorities said the incident occurred around 3:22 a.m. on September 28 in the 300 block of South Bentwood, where officers responded to reports of gunfire during a large backyard gathering. According to investigators, a disturbance broke out among attendees, and Gonzalez was struck by a single gunshot.

He was rushed to Midland Memorial Hospital before being airlifted to a medical facility in Lubbock, where he sadly passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025.

The shooter fled the scene before officers arrived and has yet to be identified. Midland Police say the investigation remains active and are urging anyone with information to come forward by calling 432-685-7108.

Friends and family are devastated by the loss of Gonzalez, remembering him as a warm-hearted and energetic young man who was deeply loved by those around him. Community members have since gathered to honor his memory and call for justice in the wake of this tragic and senseless act of violence.
