Montgomery Police are investigating a fatal shooting that left 19-year-old Kashabe Perkins Jr. dead and two others injured early Friday morning along the 4600 block of Mobile Highway. The incident, which occurred just after sunrise, prompted a large emergency response, with officers and fire medics rushing to the scene following multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire in the area.
Upon arrival, first responders found Perkins suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite their efforts to stabilize him, he was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital shortly after being transported. His death marks another disturbing chapter in Montgomery’s ongoing gun violence issue, with young people increasingly caught in the crossfire of rising shootings.
In addition to Perkins, authorities discovered two other victims at the scene: an unidentified boy, who sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound and was immediately taken to the hospital, and a woman with non-life-threatening injuries, who was also transported for medical care. The victims were found close together, but police have not yet determined the exact nature of their involvement or if they were specifically targeted.
Two firearms were recovered from the scene during the investigation, but no suspects have been identified, and no arrests have been made. Police are now working to piece together the events leading up to the shooting, exploring whether it was the result of an argument, a targeted attack, or an act of random violence. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses and speaking with residents who may have witnessed or heard anything crucial to the case.
