West Alexandria, OH — A tragic accident early Sunday morning, November 9, 2025, claimed the life of 20-year-old Shelby Haynes in Preble County. Authorities responded just before 5:30 a.m. to a single-vehicle crash near U.S. 35 and Quinn Road. Investigators say Haynes was driving her 2017 Cadillac XT5 when the vehicle went off the road, struck a culvert, overturned, and caught fire in a nearby parking lot. Despite the efforts of first responders, Shelby was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preble County Sheriff Mike Simpson confirmed the incident and noted that alcohol may have played a role, although the investigation remains ongoing. Shelby’s body was transported to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy.
