COFFEE COUNTY, Ga. – A 21-year-old man has been arrested following a brutal home invasion that left an 85-year-old resident injured inside his home, authorities announced. The suspect, identified as Jonathan Tucker, was taken into custody on Monday, October 20, 2025, after a multi-agency investigation led by the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).
Deputies were first called to the scene on Friday, October 17, after receiving reports of a violent attack. Upon arrival, officers found the elderly victim suffering from injuries to his wrist, leg, and neck, with blood visible throughout the home.

According to the investigation, the suspect had previously performed yard work for the victim about a year earlier. The victim told detectives that he had recently encountered Tucker at a local gas station, where the younger man allegedly demanded $600, claiming it was unpaid compensation for past work. When the victim explained that he did not have the money, Tucker reportedly returned to the victim’s residence days later and forced his way inside, attacking him.
The victim was able to identify Tucker from a photograph, confirming him as the assailant. Detectives quickly began an intensive investigation, locating Tucker at another residence soon after. Though he denied knowing the victim and attempted to provide an alibi, evidence and witness statements contradicted his account, leading to his arrest.
Tucker was transported to the Coffee County Pre-Trial Detention Center without incident and now faces several serious felony charges under Georgia law, including:
Kidnapping with Injury (O.C.G.A. 16-5-40)
Home Invasion in the First Degree (O.C.G.A. 16-7-5)
Aggravated Assault (O.C.G.A. 16-5-21)
Felony Theft by Taking (O.C.G.A. 16-8-2)
If convicted, Tucker could face life imprisonment, along with significant fines and other court-imposed penalties.
Sheriff Cole expressed his gratitude to the GBI and all agencies involved for their swift and coordinated response, emphasizing that the case underscores the importance of interagency collaboration in bringing violent offenders to justice.
“This investigation highlights how teamwork between law enforcement agencies ensures dangerous individuals are taken off our streets quickly,” Sheriff Cole said.
