MOBILE, Ala. — A late-night shooting in Mobile has left a 28-year-old woman dead and a 21-year-old man in custody, according to the Mobile Police Department.
The victim has been identified as Amiayia White, who was found shot inside Wilmer Hall, located at 3811 Old Shell Road, shortly after 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Officers responding to the scene discovered White deceased from a gunshot wound.

Investigators say the shooting was carried out by a male suspect known to the victim, later identified as David Smith, 21.
Smith was taken into custody on Wednesday and booked into the Mobile County Metro Jail in connection with the deadly incident.
Police have not yet disclosed a motive but confirmed that the case remains under active investigation.
