21-Year-Old Motorcyclist, Alexander Norton Killed in Collision on South Belvidere Street Identified

The Richmond Police Department Crash Team has identified the motorcyclist who tragically died in a crash on South Belvidere Street on Tuesday afternoon as 21-year-old Alexander Norton from North Chesterfield. The incident, which occurred around 3:59 p.m. at the intersection of South Belvidere and Spring Streets, is under investigation.

Upon arrival, officers found that Norton’s motorcycle had collided with an SUV in the middle of the intersection. Norton was transported to a nearby hospital with critical injuries but later succumbed to his wounds. The adult male driver of the SUV was unharmed and remained at the scene to cooperate with authorities.

According to the initial investigation, Norton reportedly ran a red light while attempting to turn left from Spring Street onto South Belvidere. At the same time, the SUV was entering the intersection from the southbound lane. The two vehicles collided with significant force, causing extensive damage to the motorcycle and impacting the SUV.

Investigators are still working to piece together the events leading up to the crash. At this time, no charges have been filed, and the investigation remains open.
