Authorities in Perry County are investigating a fatal shooting that claimed the life of 21-year-old Shermain Cain on Sunday evening near U.S. Highway 80 in Uniontown.
According to District Attorney Robert Turner Jr., the tragic incident occurred between 6:30 and 7:00 p.m. in the vicinity of Jones Lounge and the Dollar General store — an area that is usually calm but was suddenly disrupted by gunfire.

Cain was reportedly sitting inside a vehicle when he was shot. Emergency personnel arrived swiftly, but despite their efforts, the young man succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Investigators have since spoken with several individuals who may have witnessed or possess knowledge of the shooting. However, as of Monday, no arrests have been made, Turner confirmed.
The deadly incident marks Uniontown’s second homicide of the year, leaving the close-knit community grappling with yet another loss caused by senseless gun violence.
