33-Year-Old Man Fatally Shot in Pittsburgh’s South Side Flats; Investigation Underway

A deadly shooting late Sunday night has left one man dead in Pittsburgh’s South Side Flats neighborhood, prompting a homicide investigation by city police.

According to Pittsburgh Public Safety officials, officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 1200 block of East Carson Street around 10:09 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found a 33-year-old man lying on the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck.

Police immediately administered first aid until emergency medical services arrived. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:27 p.m.

Authorities have not yet released the man’s identity, pending notification of next of kin.

Detectives from the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police Homicide Unit are leading the investigation. Officers remained at the scene late into the night, collecting shell casings, reviewing surveillance footage, and speaking with potential witnesses.

So far, no arrests have been made, and police have not disclosed a possible motive or suspect description.
