SUNFLOWER COUNTY, MS — A 33-year-old Southaven man, Martez Duncan, was tragically killed Saturday evening in a two-vehicle collision along Highway 448 in Sunflower County.
According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP), Duncan’s vehicle collided with a pickup truck, leaving him fatally injured at the scene despite the efforts of first responders.
The pickup truck was carrying both a driver and a passenger, who were taken for medical treatment. Their current conditions have not been publicly released.
Troopers are actively investigating the cause of the crash and are working to determine contributing factors, including speed, roadway conditions, or possible impairment.
Duncan’s death has left family, friends, and the Southaven community in mourning. Loved ones describe his passing as a devastating loss and a reminder of the dangers faced on Mississippi’s rural highways, where changing conditions and limited visibility often pose risks.
Authorities say additional details will be released once the investigation is complete. In the meantime, MHP officials are urging motorists to remain vigilant and practice safe driving habits.
Martez Duncan’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, even as his community struggles with the pain of his sudden loss.
