Houston firefighter Marcelo Garcia, a 42-year-old 10-year veteran of the department, tragically lost his life while battling a three-alarm warehouse fire in the Greater East End on Wednesday night. The incident occurred when a wall collapsed during the fire, injuring Garcia and two other firefighters. Garcia was assigned to Station 23 and is survived by his family.

The fire broke out just before 11 p.m. on Supply Row near Polk Street, with flames engulfing the warehouse. Fire crews responded promptly, but the wall collapse led to a mayday call and a third alarm.
Houston Fire Department Chief Thomas Muñoz expressed condolences to the Garcia family, and Mayor John Whitmire offered his sympathies, acknowledging the ultimate sacrifice made by Garcia.
