West Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana — Authorities are investigating a fatal two-vehicle collision that claimed the life of 80-year-old Janet Tchorlian of Port Allen on Monday, according to the Louisiana State Police.
Preliminary reports indicate that the crash occurred when Tchorlian’s vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign while entering an intersection. As she pulled onto the roadway, her car was struck on the driver’s side by another vehicle traveling through the intersection.

Emergency responders arrived swiftly and transported Tchorlian to a nearby hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival. The driver of the second vehicle sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash, including whether speed or driver impairment played a role. No further details have been released at this time.
In a statement, Louisiana State Police urged motorists to remain vigilant, especially at intersections.
