A 22-year-old Afghan migrant, Safi Dawood, has been charged with murder, two counts of attempted murder, and possession of an offensive weapon following a fatal stabbing that left one man dead and two others injured in Uxbridge, west London.
The attack occurred on Monday in Midhurst Gardens, where 49-year-old dog walker Wayne Broadhurst tragically lost his life. A 14-year-old boy also sustained injuries, while a 45-year-old man remains in hospital with what police described as life-changing wounds.

According to investigators, Dawood and Broadhurst were not known to each other, though Dawood reportedly had prior acquaintance with the two other victims. Officers arrested the suspect at the scene shortly after the violence unfolded. He later required hospital treatment due to a medical episode before being returned to Metropolitan Police custody.
Chief Crown Prosecutor Jaswant Narwal of CPS London North confirmed that prosecutors have been working closely with the police throughout the investigation.
The Home Office revealed that Dawood entered the United Kingdom clandestinely in 2020, arriving via a lorry before being granted asylum and leave to remain in 2022.
Emergency services responded swiftly after residents reported a violent disturbance near Midhurst Gardens. It is believed that Broadhurst, described as a kind and humble man, was attacked while trying to intervene in an altercation.
“He was the last person you’d expect something like this to happen to,” a neighbour shared. “He was just out walking his dog, like he did every day. It’s absolutely heartbreaking.”
On Tuesday evening, the local community gathered for a vigil in Broadhurst’s memory. Friends, neighbours, and family members laid flowers and lit candles, paying tribute to a man remembered for his quiet kindness and dedication to his daily routine as a bin collector.
A Home Office spokesperson extended condolences to the families of those affected, saying, “Our thoughts are with everyone impacted by this horrific event. We are receiving regular updates from the Metropolitan Police, and the priority remains ensuring a full and fair investigation so that justice can be served.”
