The Aiken County Coroner’s Office has confirmed that 21-year-old Jacob Langley lost his life in a devastating crash on Saturday afternoon that sent two vehicles plunging into Lake Neeses.

Authorities reported the collision occurred around 1:03 p.m. at the intersection of Wagener Road and Flowing Wells Road. Langley, who was driving a 1991 GMC Sonoma, was attempting to make a left turn when his vehicle was struck by a 2013 Chevy Silverado. The impact forced both vehicles into the lake.
Emergency crews, including divers and members of Couchton Fire Rescue, responded swiftly. Despite their efforts, Langley was pronounced dead at 1:40 p.m. An autopsy has been scheduled for next week in Newberry.
The driver of the Silverado sustained no serious injuries. Traffic along Wagener Road was shut down for several hours but reopened by late afternoon once the scene was cleared.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources are working alongside the Aiken County Coroner’s Office to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Langley’s sudden passing has left his loved ones and community heartbroken. Remembered as a young man full of spirit and promise, his memory will continue to live on in those who knew him.
