Albany Man Christopher Joseph Smith, 30, Found Dead in Corvallis; Homicide Investigation Underway

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office has launched a homicide investigation following the tragic death of 30-year-old Christopher Joseph Smith of Albany, Oregon, who was found dead early Saturday morning, October 4, 2025, near Corvallis.

Deputies were dispatched around 4:19 a.m. after reports of a motor vehicle crash involving a gray 2013 Chevrolet Camaro that had collided with a fence near Peoria Road and Highway 34. When first responders from the Corvallis Fire Department arrived, they discovered that Smith had sustained a gunshot wound. Despite immediate lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Authorities have since confirmed that the case is being treated as a homicide, and the investigation remains ongoing as detectives work to determine the circumstances surrounding Smith’s death.
