Authorities have identified the victim of a tragic wrong-way crash that occurred early Sunday morning on Interstate 787 as 38-year-old Eric Hurley of Albany.
According to New York State Police, the deadly collision happened just after 4:30 a.m. near Exit 2 in the northbound lanes. Investigators say Hurley’s vehicle was struck head-on by another driver traveling the wrong way.

Emergency crews arrived to find both vehicles severely damaged. Despite their efforts, Hurley was pronounced dead at the scene due to the extent of his injuries. The wrong-way driver was transported to Albany Medical Center, where they remain hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators are still working to determine what led the driver to enter the highway in the wrong direction. No charges have been filed at this time, and the case remains under active investigation.
This fatal collision came just hours before another deadly crash on I-787 that claimed two additional lives, prompting authorities to renew calls for heightened awareness and safe driving practices.
