DAKOTA COUNTY, Minn. — A southeast Minnesota man is facing scrutiny after alcohol was cited as a factor in a fatal head-on crash that killed two people Saturday morning in Dakota County, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The crash happened just after 11 a.m. on September 6, 2025, south of the 292nd Street East intersection on Highway 56.

Investigators say 28-year-old Seth John Nechville, of Kenyon, was driving a 2016 Dodge Ram northbound when his vehicle crossed into the southbound lanes and struck a 2019 GMC Terrain head-on.
The Terrain’s driver, 68-year-old Peter Foxvong Olson, and passenger, 49-year-old Patricia Ann Olson, both of Apple Valley, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Nechville was transported to Regions Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities confirmed that alcohol use was a contributing factor in the crash.
Emergency Response
Crews from the Randolph Fire Department, Cannon Falls EMS, Life Link, and deputies from both Dakota and Goodhue counties responded to the scene. The roadway was temporarily shut down as officials worked to assist victims and clear the wreckage.
Ongoing Investigation
The Minnesota State Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances of the crash and has not yet announced whether charges will be filed.
The tragedy has shaken the Apple Valley community as friends and family mourn the sudden and devastating loss of Peter and Patricia Olson.
