Alexandria Mourns Edguin Zelaya-Mendez, 18, Fatally Shot Early Saturday
The Alexandria community is grieving the tragic death of 18-year-old Edguin Zelaya-Mendez, who was fatally shot early Saturday morning on West Bacon Street. Officers responding to a noise complaint at an apartment complex near West Bacon and Hickory streets reported hearing gunfire and discovering Edguin unresponsive next to a parked vehicle. Despite immediate efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Family and friends remember Edguin as a bright, kind-hearted young man full of energy, hope, and promise. Described as a devoted son, brother, and friend, his sudden loss has left a profound void in the lives of those who knew him.
