Authorities in Ontario have safely located a one-year-old child who was at the center of an AMBER Alert on Tuesday afternoon. However, the search remains underway for a suspect accused of fatally shooting a woman in Brampton earlier the same day.
The alert, issued shortly before 5 p.m., was canceled after police confirmed the missing child had been dropped off unharmed with relatives. Peel Regional Police said the case is tied to a deadly shooting that occurred in a parking lot near Airport Road and Queen Street East, which investigators believe was an incident of intimate partner violence.

The suspect, identified as 38-year-old Anthony Deschepper, is described as a white male, standing 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing around 175 pounds, with brown hair and a clean-shaven face. At the time of the alert, he was wearing a blue hoodie and blue jeans, and was carrying a black crossbody bag. Authorities believe he may be driving a black 2024 Nissan Kicks with Quebec license plate FRV4520.
Police have issued an urgent shelter-in-place warning for residents in Fort Erie, particularly near Prospect Point and Ridgeway Road, where Deschepper is believed to be hiding. The Niagara Regional Police Service has advised community members to secure their homes, lock all windows and doors, and avoid answering the door for strangers.
Officials emphasize that Deschepper should be considered armed and dangerous. Residents are strongly urged not to approach him or his vehicle, and to contact 911 immediately if seen.
