Anchorage, Alaska – A man is dead following a shooting that occurred Monday afternoon, October 20, 2025, at a property located at 3101 A Street.
According to the Anchorage Police Department (APD), officers were dispatched around 1:52 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire inside the location. When officers arrived, they found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. The victim was quickly transported to a nearby hospital but later succumbed to his injuries during surgery.
Investigators say the shooting stemmed from a verbal altercation between two men who were acquainted. During the dispute near the store’s entrance, one of the men allegedly drew a firearm and fired multiple shots, striking the victim.
Authorities confirmed that the suspected shooter has been detained, and several witnesses were taken to APD Headquarters for interviews. Police also recovered a handgun from the victim’s jacket pocket at the scene.
At this time, no formal charges have been filed, though detectives believe all individuals connected to the incident have been identified and contacted. The case remains under active review as the homicide investigation continues.
