Antonio McDonald Shot Dead in South Durham Shooting

Durham, NC – Authorities are investigating a deadly shooting that claimed the life of Antonio McDonald on Tuesday morning in south Durham.

According to the Durham Police Department, officers were dispatched shortly before 10 a.m. to the 1100 block of Capps Street, near South Alston Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered McDonald suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite emergency efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police secured the area with crime scene tape as investigators gathered evidence, including around a mailbox outside a nearby residence. Officials confirmed that a suspect has been detained in connection with the shooting, describing the incident as isolated. The suspect’s identity has not yet been released, but charges are expected.

McDonald, a Durham resident, was a graduate of Southern High School and studied at Durham Technical Community College. Family and friends remember him as a devoted father, loving partner, and loyal friend whose life was cut short too soon.
