NEW ORLEANS, La. — Edashia Caraway, a 26-year-old mother from Appleton, Wisconsin, tragically lost her life in a hit-and-run on the I-10 Twin Span bridge in the early hours of October 21, 2025, just hours before her 27th birthday.
According to Louisiana State Police, Caraway had traveled to New Orleans to celebrate her birthday and attend an NBA YoungBoy concert. Investigators say she was walking eastbound on the bridge, which crosses Lake Pontchartrain toward Slidell and is not typically used by pedestrians, when she was struck by at least two vehicles. A 2026 Mazda is believed to have hit her and fled the scene, while a second driver reportedly stopped.
The St. Tammany Parish coroner ruled her death a homicide, citing blunt force trauma as the cause. Investigators are looking into the circumstances that led Caraway to be on the bridge. A sexual assault nurse examiner assisted with the autopsy, and detectives processed her hotel room for evidence as part of the ongoing investigation.
Caraway leaves behind a 6-year-old son. Her mother, Tommy Gray, has made a public appeal for the driver responsible to come forward.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact Louisiana State Police as the investigation continues. The tragedy has left family, friends, and the Appleton community in shock as they mourn the loss of a young mother taken far too soon.
