The Arab, Alabama community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 8-year-old Cal Guess, a beloved student at Arab Elementary School, who tragically died following an ATV accident on Sunday, October 19, 2025, in Union Grove.
According to the Marshall County Coroner’s Office, the fatal crash occurred on private property along Rescue Road, where Cal was thrown from an ATV during a single-vehicle accident. He was initially taken to Huntsville Hospital and later airlifted to Children’s Hospital in Birmingham, but sadly, he was pronounced dead on Monday despite extensive medical efforts.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and Coroner’s Office are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
In a heartfelt statement, Arab City Schools expressed their grief, saying:
“Cal brought so much joy, laughter, and light to our classrooms and hallways each day. His absence will be felt by everyone who knew and loved him.”
Grief counselors have been made available to support students, teachers, and community members as they come to terms with the devastating loss of such a young life.
