Arnaudville Woman Killed in Early Morning Crash Near Beau Chene High School

Tragedy struck early Monday morning in St. Landry Parish after a fatal single-vehicle crash claimed the life of 49-year-old Michelle Romero of Arnaudville.

According to Louisiana State Police, the crash occurred around 2 a.m. along LA 93 near Saputil Lane, directly across from Beau Chene High School. Investigators say Romero was driving a Nissan Rogue northbound when the vehicle veered off the roadway, struck an embankment, and overturned in a nearby drainage ditch.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene and transported Romero to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Authorities confirmed that she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Troopers obtained a routine toxicology sample as part of the ongoing investigation, which remains active as police work to determine the factors that may have contributed to the crash.

Louisiana State Police emphasized the importance of seatbelt use and attentive driving, reminding motorists that many roadway fatalities can be prevented through safe driving habits.

“Our goal is always to save lives by promoting responsible driving and ensuring that every occupant buckles up,” a spokesperson said.

The Louisiana State Police continue to investigate the incident and have not released any additional details at this time.
