Authorities in Atlanta are intensifying their search for two individuals wanted in connection with a shooting that occurred aboard a MARTA train near Buckhead Station on the morning of July 26. The victim, identified as Isaiah Tovar, was struck by a bullet during the incident but survived with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to MARTA police, the confrontation took place shortly before the southbound train arrived at Buckhead Station. Tovar was grazed by a bullet during a violent altercation inside one of the train cars. Emergency responders quickly transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was treated and reported to be in stable condition. While his injuries were not life-threatening, the shooting caused panic among passengers and disrupted travel on one of Atlanta’s busiest transit routes.
Southbound service was temporarily halted while police and crime scene investigators secured the area, collected evidence, and interviewed witnesses. Northbound trains continued operating to minimize delays. Many passengers described scenes of chaos and fear as gunfire erupted aboard the train. “It’s terrifying to think something like this can happen in the middle of the day on public transportation,” one witness said.
Police have released surveillance images of the two suspects. The first, a man, was last seen wearing a black shirt with “RAW” across the front, stone-wash jeans, and slide-style sandals. The second, a woman, was wearing a black jacket, black pants, and dark-colored slides. Authorities warn that both individuals should be considered armed and dangerous, and the public is urged not to approach them.
