Austin Police Identify Victim in Fatal Shooting Outside 7-Eleven on Rutland Drive

The Austin Police Department has identified the victim in a deadly early-morning shooting that took place outside a 7-Eleven on Rutland Drive as 37-year-old Quinton Arnold. The incident, which occurred on Sunday, October 12, 2025, marks Austin’s 47th homicide of the year.

Authorities say officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of Rutland Drive around 3:00 a.m. following reports of gunfire in the convenience store’s parking lot. Upon arrival, officers found Arnold lying beside his vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts by emergency responders, he was pronounced dead at 4:19 a.m.

Preliminary details suggest that Arnold was standing near his car when another vehicle pulled up and opened fire, hitting him before speeding away. Investigators are now working to identify the suspects and the vehicle involved.
