The driver of the second vehicle — the only other person involved — was transported to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. Deputy Fire Chief Antonio Mitchell confirmed that each vehicle had just one occupant.

Following the crash, officials closed the bridge for several hours while emergency crews worked to recover the vehicles and clear debris. Traffic investigators remained on-site to gather evidence and determine what led to the head-on collision.

Police say the cause remains under review as they work to establish the circumstances and fault in the deadly wreck.

The loss of Xzaiver Aldaym has left his family, friends, and the wider Beaumont and Port Arthur communities mourning a life cut short. Supporters have expressed condolences and shared memories online, honoring the teen’s life as authorities continue their investigation.
