Authorities have identified the woman killed in a two-vehicle collision Wednesday evening in Franklin County as 81-year-old Rosa Banks of Laurel, Indiana, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies said the crash occurred around 5:17 p.m. at the intersection of State Road 1 and Rhein Road. A preliminary investigation shows Banks was driving a 2010 Ford Fusion and entering the intersection from Rhein Road when her vehicle was struck on the driver’s side by a southbound 2021 Toyota Tacoma.
Banks was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in her car, 33-year-old Robbie Dale Rae, sustained injuries and was treated by emergency responders. The Tacoma’s driver, 32-year-old David Tyler Hokey, was not hurt.
Investigators noted that alcohol and drugs are not suspected as contributing factors. The crash remains under investigation by Sgt. Adam Henson with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department.
Letts EMS, the Brookville Fire Department, and the Franklin County Coroner’s Office assisted at the scene.
