Authorities Identify Victims in Milledgeville Murder-Suicide

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — Police have released the names of two people who died in an apparent murder-suicide inside a Milledgeville home Thursday afternoon.

The Milledgeville Police Department identified the victims as Lashonda Lawrence, 38, and Tavious Antwon Spencer, 36. Investigators say Spencer fatally shot Lawrence before taking his own life.

Officers were called to a residence on Pritchard Street, just off North Jefferson Street, at about 3:30 p.m. When they arrived, they found both victims dead from gunshot wounds. Detectives believe the shootings happened earlier in the day, sometime between 7 a.m. and noon.

The bodies have been taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab in Macon for autopsies, which officials say may provide more insight into the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

Authorities stressed there is no danger to the public, describing the case as an isolated incident. Investigators are continuing to collect evidence and interview potential witnesses to determine what led to the violence.

Police have not yet shared details about the relationship between Lawrence and Spencer or a possible motive. Community members expressed shock and sadness at the tragedy, highlighting ongoing concerns about domestic violence and mental health.
