CLAY COUNTY, Minn. — Authorities report that 89-year-old John Burton of Barnesville tragically died Tuesday morning following a head-on collision in northwestern Minnesota.

The crash occurred at approximately 8:25 a.m. on Highway 34 in Tansem Township, involving an eastbound Dodge Caliber driven by Burton and a westbound Subaru Outback.
The Minnesota State Patrol has not released details regarding how the vehicles collided. Burton was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Subaru, a 64-year-old woman from Hawley, was transported to Sanford Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators continue to examine the circumstances of the crash. Highway 34 was temporarily affected while emergency crews responded to the incident.
