Tragedy struck Belle Plaine on Thursday morning, September 11, 2025, when 23-year-old Mackenzie Glaser was killed in a two-vehicle collision in Derrynane Township.

According to the Le Sueur County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred shortly before 7:15 a.m. at the junction of 211th Avenue and 320th Street. Preliminary reports indicate that a van towing another vehicle was traveling eastbound on 320th Street when Glaser’s car, heading north on 211th Avenue, failed to stop at a posted stop sign. The two vehicles collided within the intersection, and Glaser’s car came to rest in a nearby ditch.
Glaser suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. A one-year-old child who was also in her vehicle was rushed to a local hospital for observation.
The van, driven by 49-year-old Christopher Call of Carver, carried two passengers, 18-year-old Justus Call and a 14-year-old boy, all of whom escaped unharmed.
Emergency crews from the Montgomery Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, New Prague Fire Department, Le Center Ambulance Service, and North Ambulance Service responded to the scene to provide aid and secure the area.
Authorities are actively investigating the crash to determine its exact cause and are urging anyone with information or witnesses to come forward.
The loss of Glaser has sent ripples through the Belle Plaine community, reminding residents of the dangers posed by intersections and the need for vigilance on local roads.
