OCEAN CITY, Md. — The Worcester County community is mourning the loss of 65-year-old Dennis Ellis of Berlin, who tragically died in a motorcycle crash Tuesday morning in Ocean City.
According to Maryland State Police, the fatal collision occurred around 10:17 a.m. on U.S. Route 50 near Inlet Isle Lane. Investigators said Ellis was traveling westbound on his motorcycle when a Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by a 17-year-old male with an 18-year-old passenger, entered the roadway and failed to yield the right of way. The impact sent Ellis to the ground, causing critical injuries.
Ellis was rushed to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury, where he was later pronounced deceased. The two teenage occupants of the Jeep were not injured. Authorities confirmed that the driver of the Jeep was issued multiple traffic citations in connection with the crash.
Emergency crews from the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, Ocean City Fire Department, and Ocean City EMS responded to the scene and assisted in the aftermath of the collision. The Maryland State Police Crash Team is continuing its investigation to determine the full circumstances surrounding the deadly accident.
