SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Authorities report the tragic death of 53-year-old Sherwood Sills of Blacklick, who lost his life early Monday morning after his pickup truck collided with the front entrance of Overflow Ministries Covenant Church on Hamilton Avenue.

Officials said the accident occurred shortly after 3 a.m. on September 8, 2025. Sills, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene despite the rapid response of fire and EMS crews.
The crash caused significant damage to the church building, leaving the Springfield Township community both shaken and grieving. Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances, including possible medical or mechanical factors that may have contributed to the incident.
Sills is remembered by family, friends, and neighbors as a man whose presence positively impacted those around him. The community is coming together to both repair the church and honor the memory of a beloved member whose life ended far too soon.
