Authorities have confirmed the identity of the victim in a fatal early morning crash on September 23, 2025, as 24-year-old Jessica J. Wimp of Bloomington, according to McLean County Coroner Dr. Kathleen Yoder.

Bloomington police responded around 4:30 a.m. to the 400 block of West Graham Street after reports that a vehicle had struck a residence. Firefighters also assisted with the extrication efforts. Despite their response, Wimp—the sole occupant of the vehicle—was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary findings indicate that the vehicle was traveling northbound on Lee Street when, for reasons still under investigation, it left the roadway, hit a tree, and then collided with a residence before coming to a stop. No injuries were reported inside the home, though the extent of property damage has not yet been determined.
An autopsy revealed that Wimp died from multiple blunt-force injuries consistent with a vehicle striking fixed objects. Toxicology results are pending.
Bloomington Police Chief Jamal Simington expressed condolences to the family, urging drivers to prioritize safety:
“Traffic collisions negatively impact families for generations… Before putting a vehicle in motion, pledge to drive defensively and safely on every trip.”
The Bloomington Police Department, the McLean County Accident Reconstruction Team, and the McLean County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate the incident.
