The Blue Springs, Missouri, community is mourning the loss of Josie Lynn Woodward, a devoted nurse and radiant spirit, who passed away recently, leaving family, friends, and colleagues heartbroken. Born on November 23, 2000, to Michael and Wendy Woodward, Josie was known for her warmth, humor, and boundless kindness from the very beginning.
Josie grew up in her close-knit neighborhood, attending Delta Woods Middle School and Blue Springs South High School, where she shone as a member of the Touch of Silver Dance Team, captivating audiences with her energy and grace. Her love for dance continued at the University of Missouri, where she joined the Golden Girls dance team and the Delta Delta Delta sorority, all while pursuing her studies in nursing with dedication and compassion.

Her nursing career reflected the same empathy and joy that defined her life. As an ICU and pain management nurse, Josie made a meaningful impact on her patients and colleagues, earning the prestigious Daisy Award, which honors extraordinary nurses who go above and beyond in care.
Friends and family recall her silly, playful personality and her ability to make everyone feel valued. From dancing in the kitchen to sharing perfectly timed jokes, Josie’s laughter and positivity left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Josie is survived by her parents, Michael and Wendy Woodward; her sister, Addi Woodward; grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family. She is preceded in death by her uncle, James Matthew Woodward.
A celebration of Josie’s life will take place on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Woods Chapel United Methodist Church in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Visitation is scheduled from 1:00–4:00 p.m., with the service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to support short-term family needs and establish a memorial fund in her name, continuing Josie’s legacy of kindness and generosity.
