Authorities in Louisa County, Virginia, are investigating a possible drowning after a body was recovered from Lake Anna on Saturday morning.
According to the Louisa County Department of Fire/EMS and the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office, emergency crews were dispatched shortly before 9 a.m. following reports of a person in distress near the Virginia Route 652 bridge across Elk Creek.
Multiple agencies, including water rescue teams and mutual aid departments, joined the search. After several hours of operations, responders confirmed that a body had been recovered from the water. The individual’s identity has not yet been released, pending notification of family.
In a public statement, Louisa County Fire/EMS expressed gratitude to partner agencies and volunteers for their assistance, with special thanks to Spotsylvania County Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Management for their support during the search and recovery efforts.
The incident remains under investigation.
