Bristol, CT — The Bristol community is grieving the sudden death of Jayson Bruno-Matos, 36, a beloved father, brother, and business owner, who was fatally shot early Saturday morning, August 24, 2025.

Police responded to the 100 block of Arch Street around 2 a.m. after multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire. Bruno-Matos was found with fatal gunshot wounds and did not survive. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the shooting.
Bruno-Matos was known as the owner of Creative Cutz Barbers Lounge, a hub for community and connection. Beyond his business, he was a mentor, friend, and source of positivity to many, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.
In the wake of his passing, the family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to cover funeral expenses, legal costs, and support for his young daughters. The fundraiser has already raised over $6,000 of its $18,000 goal, reflecting the outpouring of support from neighbors, customers, and friends.
A family statement reads, “We are trying to honor my brother’s legacy. He was taken away from us in the worst way possible, leaving behind his daughters, mother, brothers, nieces, and nephews.”
