Thomas Kwan, a 53-year-old UK doctor, has been convicted of attempted murder after injecting his mother’s partner with a toxic substance during a fake COVID-19 vaccination appointment. The victim suffered severe health consequences, including a flesh-eating disease, but thankfully survived the ordeal.
Kwan’s elaborate scheme involved sending forged NHS letters to the victim, claiming he was eligible for a nursing visit and vaccine appointment. He then disguised himself as a nurse and administered the toxic substance, causing life-changing injuries to the victim.
The Crown Prosecution Service praised the work of Northumbria and Cleveland Police forces, whose investigation provided key evidence in building a robust case against Kwan. Kwan has been sentenced to over 30 years in prison for his crimes.
This shocking case highlights the importance of verifying medical professionals’ credentials and being cautious of suspicious medical appointments. Our thoughts are with the victim and his loved ones during this difficult time.
