The community of Butler, Indiana, is reeling from the tragic and untimely death of Ethan Michael Fike, a beloved 19-year-old who passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2025. Ethan, born on October 5, 2006, in Fort Wayne, was the cherished son of Shane and Amanda (Maberson) Fike. A senior at Garrett High School, Ethan was known not only as a student but as a source of light, strength, and inspiration to all who knew him.
Ethan’s impact was felt far beyond the classroom. His compassion, loyalty, and quiet strength built lifelong friendships and created an environment where people felt valued and appreciated. He was the embodiment of brotherhood, always lifting others up and ensuring that everyone around him knew they mattered.

Faith played a significant role in Ethan’s life. He was baptized and actively attended Corunna United Brethren in Christ Church, where his genuine care for others and his kind spirit made a lasting impression on his community. He was known for his integrity, his humility, and the way he carried himself with unwavering faith.
Beyond his commitment to faith and friendship, Ethan was passionate about sports, particularly boxing, wrestling, and fitness. His dedication to athletics was not just about competition, but about personal growth, discipline, and perseverance. As a wrestler, Ethan competed with fierce determination and sportsmanship. Win or lose, he was admired by peers and coaches alike for his focus, respect, and the way he handled challenges with grace.
Ethan’s laughter and wit were infectious, and his ability to lift spirits in tough times made him a treasured friend and teammate. Those who knew him remember his unwavering dedication to his family and his community. His strength came from a deep sense of purpose and pride in who he was and what he stood for.
Ethan is survived by his father, Shane Fike of Butler; his sisters, Athena (fiancé Brady Long) Fike and Addison Fike, both of Butler; paternal grandparents Donald (Brenda) Fike and Theresa Shisler; maternal grandparents David and Patricia Maberson; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Amanda Fike, who passed away in 2021.
Visitation for Ethan will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at County Line Church of God, 7716 North County Line Road E, Auburn, with a funeral service to follow at 1 p.m., officiated by Pastor Gabe Pranger. Ethan will be laid to rest at Christian Union Cemetery near Garrett.
The Fike family has requested that memorial contributions be made to assist with funeral expenses. Ethan’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him—his family, friends, teammates, and community members—as a fighter, a friend, and a shining example of love, resilience, and strength.
