The Carlisle, Arkansas community is mourning the loss of 37-year-old Eric Roland, who was fatally shot early Sunday morning, November 2, officials confirmed. The Arkansas State Police (ASP) are leading the investigation following a request for assistance from the Carlisle Police Department (CPD).
According to reports, CPD officers responded to the 400 block of North Greenlaw Avenue after receiving calls about a shooting. Upon arrival, emergency personnel found Roland deceased at the scene from apparent gunshot wounds. Witnesses identified 40-year-old Cyle Ramone Cooney as the suspect, who fled the area in a white Dodge Ram. Law enforcement located and arrested Cooney around 8:30 a.m. Sunday with the assistance of the Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office.

Cooney has been charged with First-Degree Murder, Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm from a Vehicle, and Possession of a Firearm by Certain Persons. He is being held at the Lonoke County Detention Center on a $150,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on January 12, 2026.
