Xander, who proudly wore #75 for the Ice Hounds, was remembered as more than just an exceptional athlete — he was a devoted teammate, a loyal friend, and an inspiration to those around him. His sudden passing has left teammates, coaches, classmates, and friends heartbroken, struggling to come to terms with the loss of a young man whose energy and spirit lit up every rink he stepped onto.
In a moving tribute, Coach Nick reflected on the depth of Xander’s character and the profound loss felt by the entire team:
“Yesterday we lost a player, #75 Xander Wittbrod-Rouse. It’s every coach’s worst nightmare and it still doesn’t feel real. Xander was a wonderful, kind, respectful young man with the biggest heart and a smile to match. Some would say a gentle giant. The best teammate one could ask for — the perfect player to coach.”
Over the past three years, Coach Nick watched Xander grow into a leader both on and off the ice. His relentless work ethic, humility, and eagerness to improve inspired his teammates and coaches alike.
