CARRABELLE, Fla. – The salt air feels heavier this week along the Forgotten Coast. On December 1, 2025, Carrabelle lost one of its brightest souls when Jackson Levi Meyer passed away unexpectedly at the age of 24.
Born and raised under the oaks and over the bay, Jackson was the kind of person who made a small town feel like family. Whether it was dropping off fresh-caught mullet to a neighbor, spending hours untangling fishing line for a frustrated kid on the dock, or simply flashing that wide, easy grin that could turn a bad day around, Jackson had a gift for making everyone feel seen.

“Jackson didn’t just live here—they loved here,” said lifelong friend Kayla Millender. “If you needed help launching a boat at 5 a.m. or someone to sit with you on the porch at midnight, Jackson showed up—no questions, no hesitation.”
An avid outdoorsman who could name every bird along the river and every shell on the beach, Jackson found peace in the same waters and woods that raised them. Friends say some of their favorite memories are sunset fishing trips where Jackson insisted on releasing the big ones “so someone else could have the same fight someday.”
In a town where everybody knows everybody, Jackson stood out for never letting anyone feel alone.
A visitation and celebration of life will be held Thursday, December 4, 2025, beginning at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery on Highway 98. The family invites the entire community to come as you are—boots, flannel, and all—to share stories, laugh, cry, and remember the gentle heart who made Carrabelle better just by being in it.
“Jackson taught us that kindness doesn’t have to be loud,” said Pastor Daniel Davis, who grew up two doors down. “It just has to be constant. And theirs was.”
Though only 24 years walked this earth, Jackson Levi Meyer packed a lifetime of love into them. The tide will keep rolling in and out, the gulls will keep calling, but Carrabelle will never quite be the same without that familiar laugh echoing down Avenue C.
