CASS LAKE, Minn. — The Cass Lake community is grieving the tragic loss of Theresa Kay Cechini, 59, who died following a boating accident on Leech Lake near Walker City Park.
Authorities said the accident occurred when the boat Theresa was operating struck rocks and the shoreline. She was the sole occupant of the vessel. Despite immediate response from emergency crews and extensive lifesaving efforts, she was pronounced dead at the Walker airport shortly after the crash.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office confirmed her identity, while the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office reported that Theresa may have suffered a medical emergency prior to the collision, though the final cause of death remains under review.
