Catahoula Parish, LA — The Catahoula Parish School District is grieving the tragic loss of LaJames Scott, a beloved student whose passing has deeply affected family, friends, and the entire school community.
In honor of LaJames’ memory, all Catahoula Parish Schools and the School Board Office will be closed on Friday, October 3, 2025. The closure is intended to give students, staff, and community members the opportunity to come together, reflect, and support one another during this difficult time.
School officials emphasized the importance of providing emotional support to students, acknowledging that the loss of a young life can be especially challenging to comprehend. Parents and guardians are encouraged to reach out to school administrators if their child needs additional guidance or assistance.
“Our hearts go out to LaJames’ family, friends, and our entire school community,” a district spokesperson said. “We appreciate everyone’s understanding and compassion as we navigate this period of mourning together.”
The Catahoula Parish School District asks the community to keep LaJames’ loved ones in their thoughts and prayers as they grieve the loss of a bright and cherished young life.
