Centralia Man, Harrison Washington, Dies in Fatal Crash on Highway 22

Mexico, MO — A tragic crash on Tuesday night claimed the life of 34-year-old Harrison Washington of Centralia, Missouri.

According to the Mexico Public Safety Department, the accident occurred at approximately 10:33 p.m. on August 26, 2025, in the 1500 block of West Monroe Street (Missouri Highway 22). Investigators say Washington was driving a 2006 Ford passenger car eastbound when his vehicle crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a 1999 Freightliner truck pulling a trailer loaded with soybean meal.

Emergency crews confirmed that Washington died at the scene. The 72-year-old Mexico man driving the Freightliner was not injured.

Traffic along Highway 22 was slowed for several hours while crews worked to clear the wreckage, reopening the roadway around 4:00 a.m. Wednesday morning. Authorities say the investigation into the crash is ongoing.

Friends and loved ones remembered Harrison Washington as a loving and caring man, deeply admired by those who knew him. His sudden passing has left the Centralia community in mourning.
