The Chapin community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 59-year-old Tonya Mayers Bowers, who tragically lost her life in a pedestrian accident on Friday night, October 10, 2025, in Lexington County, South Carolina.
According to officials, the incident happened around 9:35 p.m. along Mountain Drive, west of Chapin. Authorities say Tonya was struck by a 2023 Kia SUV traveling east. Despite swift emergency response efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was not injured, investigators confirmed.
