The Goodwill Fire Co. #1 of York Township has announced with great sadness the passing of Charles “Chuck” Hoffman, a firefighter remembered for his service, integrity, and uplifting spirit. His sudden loss has left both his firefighting family and his loved ones grieving deeply.

Chuck joined the fire company in 2020, quickly standing out as a hardworking and dedicated live-in fireman. Over the next three years, he fully embraced the demands of service—answering calls, training tirelessly, and giving back to the community in countless ways.
Even after moving to Delaware with his wife, Aimee, and their 20-month-old son, CJ, Chuck’s dedication never wavered. Whenever he returned to the area, he proudly continued to serve with Goodwill Fire Co., showing that firefighting was more than a duty—it was part of who he was.
Known for his humor and warmth, Chuck had a gift for bringing joy to others. He could ease tensions with a joke, brighten a room with his smile, and make everyone feel valued. Fellow firefighters describe him as both a trusted leader and a cherished friend, remembering him with the words: “Chuck was loved by many and hated by none.”
Above all, Chuck’s greatest pride was his family. He embraced fatherhood wholeheartedly, often sharing stories about his little boy with joy and excitement. His devotion to his wife and son was unwavering and remains a lasting part of his legacy.
Affectionately nicknamed “Neighbor” by his firehouse family, Chuck embodied the brotherhood and closeness forged within the fire service. The company’s farewell—“RIP ‘Neighbor,’ our pipe man forever”—captures both the affection and respect he inspired.
