A tragic motorcycle accident on Friday afternoon claimed the life of 23-year-old firefighter Sammy Ershidat, a dedicated member of the Chesterfield County Fire & EMS. The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on November 7, 2025, when Ershidat, who was riding eastbound on West Hundred Road near the 4900 block, collided with a vehicle exiting the Grand Oaks Apartments complex. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Ershidat tragically succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the vehicle involved sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Ershidat had only recently embarked on his firefighting career, graduating from Recruit School 68 in 2024 and being assigned to Engine 211 “C” Shift at Fire Station 11 on Iron Bridge Road. In just under two years of service, he had already earned a reputation among his colleagues as a beacon of light—brave, selfless, and always ready to respond to a call, no matter the risk. “We are all saddened by the loss of Firefighter Sammy Ershidat, who was taken from us as his career as a firefighter had just begun. He proudly served the residents of Dale while assigned to one of the busiest stations in Chesterfield County,” said Fire Chief Edward L. Senter, Jr.
